Avid DS Nitris

The Avid DS Nitris system offers multi-stream, 10-bit uncompressed HD, Avid DNxHD, and SD finishing and mastering as well as HD-RGB and 2K/4K file-based editing with real-time playback up to 2K. It combines advanced creative and finishing software with high-performance Avid Nitris Digital Nonlinear Accelerator hardware for guaranteed real-time editing and effects. Create, edit, and master TV programs, films, and commercials-even theatrical releases-with the resolution-independent Avid DS Nitris system.

Avid DS Nitris version 8 keeps pace with your finishing needs by providing full support for HD-RGB conform and finishing workflows. Also, new functionality for DPX file-based conform expands support for Digital Intermediate workflows. This release of DS Nitris also adds optional support for the HP XW9300 workstation.

Version 8 Features include:

• New dual-link HD-SDI I/O hardware: Standard with every Avid DS Nitris is new hardware that provides the necessary dual-link HD-SDI input and output channels for HD-RGB sources like HDCAM SR delivering a complete solution for capture, conform, finishing and mastering for HD-RGB workflows. Existing customers can add the dual-link HD-SDI hardware a purchasable option.

• Includes both Symphony Nitris and Avid DS Nitris software: Every new Avid DS Nitris will ship with both Avid DS Nitris and Symphony Nitris software installed on the workstation. Customers can easily reconfigure a system from one to the other to allow maximum flexibility in choosing the right system for any finishing job. Existing customers can add Symphony Nitris as a purchasable option.

• New Avid DS Assist Stations: Avid DS Assist station is a brand new product that features the full software feature set of DS Nitris in a software-only application that can be used to affordably offload tasks ideally suited to an assistant editor or effects specialist.

• Optional Support for HP XW9300 workstation: Featuring two dual-core AMD Opteron processors, the XW9300 workstation provides twice the CPU power for the fastest processing of HD-RGB and file-based 2K and 4K material. This workstation is a purchasable option when ordering your Avid DS Nitris system. The XW8200 will remain the standard configuration for Avid DS Nitris.

• 64-bit native: 64-bit native system and software application enables access to more physical RAM memory to help facilitate HD-RGB and high-resolutions file-based 2K and 4K workflows.
  
   
• Support for 720p50 sequences: Facilitating our European customers’ transition to HD broadcast, DS Nitris systems can now capture, conform, finish and master in 720p50 formats.

• Support for DVCPRO HD format media: DVCPRO HD format media in MXF format captured on Media Composer® and Avid Xpress® Pro systems may be relinked via the AFE conform process in Avid DS Nitris.

• Avid Unity ISIS support: Avid DS Nitris now supports Avid Unity ISIS, the latest advanced media network from Avid which delivers enterprise-level reliability, availability, and scalability.
