Susan (Clark) Pinch became president of ClarkPowell in 2016. Her career with the company started in 1995.  Prior to her current position she managed the procurement team, and through the years learned from her Dad (Read Clark) and sister (Stephanie Clark Bluhm) the values and business practices that bind the company together. Under her leadership, the company has seen significant year-on-year growth. Susan continues to maintain excellent, long-standing relationships with our  valued  manufacturers and partners. 

​Kathi Cline

​Originally from Miami, Kathi began her career with ClarkPowell back in 1994 in the accounting department. She moved into her role in Human Resources in 1999. Kathi's day-to-day role is many faceted, she is an active part of the Technical Operations Management of the company and also directly manages our Admin Team as well as fulfilling all of the company's HR needs. 

​Jim Pinch

Jim is our  IT Director and VTC / Digital Signage expert. Upon being hired in 1997 as a video network specialist, Jim was already a seasoned computer technician, having started his career in 1978.

​He has an extensive computer, networking, and AV conferencing background. His strengths include video-across-networks and digital signage applications. He is a Polycom- and Cisco-certified technician for ClarkPowell represented products.

Michael Sorenson

Michael earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from UNC-Greensboro in 1997.  He started working for Clark Powell in 2009 new to the AV industry.  Utilizing previous experience in event productions he learned the ropes quickly.  Soon after he was promoted to lead installer and was successful in leading high value projects for the company.

​Due to Michael’s proven skills at organization and logistics, Michael became the Technical Service Coordinator in 2014, coordinating our installation teams, project managers, engineers, and service technicians throughout the Carolinas.

Joey Fralick

Joey has been with ClarkPowell since January of 2000.  He previously worked as a manager and senior video producer / director for the SC Employment Security Commission in Columbia, SC. 

Joey received his BA degree in Media Arts from the University of South Carolina in 1983. Joey currently serves as an Account Manager based in the Columbia, SC office.  He says that he really enjoys getting to know his customers, working with them and the ClarkPowell team to find appropriate AV solutions, and then seeing the projects through to completion.  

Randy Lane

Randy is a Senior Account Manager based in the Raleigh, NC office who has over 35 years of AV experience.  He began his career in 1985 with a NC based AV company serving in many different capacities, including broadcast sales. Randy joined ClarkPowell in 1994 bringing his extensive AV Sales experience.

Randy is an experienced design engineer with extensive experience in the education and government sectors. He has been designing and coordinating multi-million dollar projects for many years.  He believes it is important to be a designer who guides projects from initial design through the entire process to implementation. 

Mark Lawing

Mark started working for ClarkPowell in 2007 after his completion of service in the army.  With experience in electronics and troubleshooting, he started his career at ClarkPowell as a field service technician.  After may years working in the field, he took  his knowledge of AV systems and transitioned into a sales role based in the Charlotte, NC office. 
 
Marks experience and strong service background brings solutions that are often times not even considered.  He is able to understand and ask the right questions to get the best result to meet the client’s needs.  Marks goals are too always to be always accessible, accountable, prepared, creative and understand his client’s business’s av needs and challenges.

Joe Semmelmann, CTS

Joe began his career in AV right out of college. Originally dead set on pharmaceutical sales, he worked with a career consulting firm and the process involved a lot of writing about subjects he was interested in AV technology kept coming to the surface. Never having realized that one should make a career out of something you actually enjoy (novel idea), Joe pursued professional AV companies.

ClarkPowell and Joe found each other in 2001. Joe has developed extensive experience and the ability take an AV project from a concept to design through to a professional AV deployment. He works closely with his clients to explain the technology in simple terms always resulting in reliable easy to use methods of communicating ideas. Joe is based in the Charlotte, NC office.

Lee White, CTS

Lee has worked in the av industry for over 25 years. After receiving a Master's degree in educational media from Appalachian State, Lee began a career in corporate and educational video production. Lee was a client of ClarkPowell for many years as the station manager of an educational access cable channel. Lee joined the ClarkPowell team in 2003 and is based in the Winston-Salem, NC office, but covers all markets along the I40 corridor through Raleigh.

He has an extensive broadcast, video production, VTC and corporate training background that he brings to every av project he is involved in at ClarkPowell.

​Warren Baker

Warren Baker has worked in both broadcast and corporate production. Warren joined the ClarkPowell team in 1998 and helps design and implement varied production workflows using many different manufacturers. He's also an Avid ACSR with certifications in shared storage, Media Composer, Media Central and Interplay. He is our Tricaster and Broadcast Pixs specialist. Warren focuses on providing our clients with end to end media capture, production, graphical overlays, storage and distribution networks infrastructure.

With everything that the Carolinas have to offer, one thing Read Clark felt was missing was a company that would offer exceptional service and superior value to AV professionals throughout the Carolinas. So, he founded ClarkPowell in 1983 to meet the need. More than three decades later, with four offices and more than 400 AV integration jobs completed this year, ClarkPowell is still a family company at its core. Read’s daughter, Stephanie Clark Bluhm, took over the presidency of the company in 2010. In 2016 her sister, Susan Clark Pinch, stepped in as president after Stephanie’s unexpected passing.

The Clark family is loyal to ClarkPowell and the first employee ClarkPowell ever hired retired in 2020. ClarkPowell is also a loyal member of PSNI—the company joined in 1990 as one of the first PSNI affiliates. ClarkPowell has partnered with other PSNI affiliates including Avidex, Cory's AV, Conference Technologies, Datavision, and HB Communications to complete AV integrations around the world.

And it’s not just work that has taken ClarkPowell all over the world. As a PSNI affiliate, ClarkPowell employees have enjoyed plenty of international fun, too.
“I think my most memorable moment with PSNI was the PSNI meeting in Barcelona,” said Susan. “We had a wonderful dinner at a gorgeous castle where we were able to make friends with many of the new international PSNI members. And the visit to the Sagrada Familia—what an incredible opportunity to visit such a magical landmark!  An opportunity that would not have been possible without the hard work of the PSNI team.”

Flexibility is the Future and ClarkPowell is Here for It

With more than three decades in the industry and thousands of successful projects completed, ClarkPowell has weathered plenty of changes and passing fads in AV integration. These days, Susan said, flexibility is king, whether it’s flexible spaces, flexible tools, or flexible integrations.
​
“We have seen a definite shift from traditional meeting rooms to clients wanting far more flexible spaces, such as multi-purpose rooms, huddle spaces and even open collaboration areas. This is being driven by the Millennial generation, as they tend to prefer a less structured work environment, working flexible hours and collaborating on-the-fly,” Susan said. “We also continue to see the merging of AV and IT with standards such as AVB, SDVoE, AV over IP and Dante working over standard network switches, rather than the traditional AV matrices that we have used in the past. We are having to become IT specialists in order to implement many complex systems.”
