A Standardized AV Infrastructure Supporting Education, Training, and Secure Collaboration
When The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, set out to replace its legacy Capers Hall, it wasn’t just about modernizing bricks and mortar. It was about creating a forward-thinking academic facility that could support dynamic instruction, high-level collaboration, and mission-specific training for future leaders in both military and civilian careers.
ClarkPowell was selected as the audiovisual partner to install a comprehensive AV system spanning more than 60 technology-enabled rooms, including a mock courtroom, a digital media studio, and even a training version of a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF).
The $2.4 million AV integration, in partnership with general contractor Thompson Turner, represents one of the largest single projects ClarkPowell had undertaken at the time and helped set the stage for even larger AV installations in the future.

The 30 core classrooms were designed identically, streamlining training and reducing support requests. Meanwhile, flexibility was built into specialized spaces, allowing instructors to easily engage students through UC conferencing, wireless presentation (ScreenBeam), and lecture capture (Mediasite) when needed.
At the core of the system, Extron handles routing, control, and audio, creating a unified system across all floors and rooms.

- 10 Large Conference Rooms with either 75" Samsung displays or projection systems
- A Fully Equipped Auditorium

- Cyber Lab and Cyber Range, each featuring Planar 2x2 video wall displays

Each floor is supported by a dedicated AV closet, allowing centralized connectivity, simplified troubleshooting, and future scalability across systems.
