Kathi Cline joined the accounting department of ClarkPowell in 1994. In 1999 she added Office and HR Manager to her responsibilities. Kathi developed the human resources department and created the company employee handbook along with departmental policies and procedures. Her already multi-faceted role expanded to on-boarding and the training process for the technical department. Kathi’s role at ClarkPowell was pivotal as it involved being included in the development of all the vital company processes.
Utilizing her experience and talent in developing and training teams, Kathi moved into a senior management role in 2010. She was strategic in developing and managing all aspects of the organization. In 2016 she took on the added responsibility of Corporate Secretary for the company.
Kathi has been key in the growth of ClarkPowell and thanks to her dedication and invaluable expertise, it is a significantly larger and more complex company with a strong and highly skilled team.
Kathi has been integral to ClarkPowell for decades and after 13 years of leadership, it is the natural evolution for Kathi to have stepped into the role of company President in 2023.
Vice President of Operations
Michael Sorenson joined the technical team of ClarkPowell in 2009. Utilizing his previous experience in IT and AV event production he received an accelerated promotion to lead installer in 2010.
Michael became the Technical Services Coordinator in 2014 due to his proven and strong logistical and organizational skills. Michael coordinated the many teams and assignments throughout the region. He excelled in this role and was highly successful in leading high-value projects for the company.
Michael was promoted in 2017 to Technical Services Manager and became responsible for the management of engineering, project management, installation, programming, and service teams. Michael was a natural leader due to his own work experience in the field and knowledge of all aspects of an AV install.
With a background in finance and accounting and extensive experience in management, Michael stepped into the role of Operations Manager in 2021. He has successfully managed all aspects of the organization and became the VP of Operations in 2023.
Vice President of Sales and Vendor Relations
Randy Lane joined ClarkPowell in 1994 bringing his extensive experience in broadcast, presentation services and AV sales.
Randy has been a highly successful Senior Account Manager based in the Raleigh area. Randy offers a wealth of experience with over 35 years of service in the AV industry. Randy is an experienced design engineer with extensive experience in the education and government sectors as well as broadcast in the corporate sector.
He has been designing and coordinating multi-million dollar projects for many years at ClarkPowell. Randy believes it is extremely important to be a designer who guides projects for his clients from initial concept and design through the entire process to training and utilization. With his ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors, Randy became VP of Sales and Vendor Relations in 2023.
Joe Semmelmann, CTS
Vice President of Sales and Marketing
Joe Semmelmann started his career with ClarkPowell directly after graduation from college in 2001. He was fortunate to discover an industry that fueled his personal passion for AV technologies and building relationships.
Joe has honed his ability to take an audiovisual project from concept, to design, and through to a professional AV deployment. Joe works closely with his clients to explain the technologies in simple terms always resulting in reliable easy to use methods of communicating ideas.
Joe has been a highly successful Account Manager specializing in the corporate sector based in the Charlotte area. With effective communication skills and a degree in Marketing and Management, Joe became VP of Sales and Marketing in 2023.
Joey received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Carolina in 1983 and joined ClarkPowell in 2000.
In his previous role, Joey was a customer of ClarkPowell, where he managed video production for a state agency for 17 years working throughout the southeast as well as handling national projects. Joey brought his extensive experience of video production to ClarkPowell.
Joey is an account manager based in Columbia, SC with a territory covering the entire state. Additionally, he handles national accounts and manages multi-million dollar projects. He has developed a diversified client portfolio but specializes in the higher education, healthcare and state government sectors.
Joey has bags of energy and enthusiasm with a great sense of humor. He has a collaborative nature and has had great success in building long term client relationships. He is an honest individual who enjoys working with his clients and finding an appropriate AV solution that fits their needs.
Lee White, CTS
Lee White is an account manager with over 25 years experience in the AV industry. After receiving a Master's degree in educational media from Appalachian State University, Lee began producing corporate training and marketing videos. In his role as station manager at Winston Salem Forsyth County’s cable educational access TV channel, Lee was a client of ClarkPowell for over a decade before joining the team in 2003.
Lee is based in Winston-Salem covering the Piedmont Triad area and his territory also includes the region west to Boone and east to Raleigh.
Lee works across all verticals but focuses on the corporate, healthcare, state and local government sectors. He specializes in design-build projects with extensive experience working with general contractors and architects.
Lee provides exceptional product knowledge and advice to his clients with a strong technical background. He handles the entire process for his clients, from design concept to supporting the AV system after it is installed. He is customer driven and his ability to develop and maintain excellent client relationships results in a high customer satisfaction rate.
Mark Lawing joined ClarkPowell in 2007 after he completed his army service where he specialized in communications. With experience in electronics and troubleshooting, he began his AV career as a field service technician. After 9 years of working in the field, Mark transitioned his knowledge of AV systems into an account manager role based in Charlotte, NC. Mark’s territory is the greater Charlotte market as well as the region to the western and northern NC state borders.
Mark’s hands-on technical experience combined with a strong service background brings the understanding and design of highly effective solutions. He is dependable and open-minded with excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Versed in the latest AV technology, Mark is customer driven and prides himself on being knowledgeable and accessible to his clients. His focus is on listening and understanding his customers’ AV needs and providing a solution that works for them.
Post Production Specialist
Warren Baker has worked in both broadcast and corporate production. Warren joined the ClarkPowell team in 1998 and helps design and implement varied production workflows using many different manufacturers.
Warren has extensive experience with Avid software and hardware including NEXIS, Media Composer, Media Central and Interplay. He is our Tricaster and Broadcast Pixs specialist who also works with Cablecast broadcast systems. Warren focuses on providing our clients with end to end media capture, production, graphical overlays, storage and distribution network infrastructure.
