CASE STUDY
Atlantic Coast Conference, Greensboro, North Carolina
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) headquartered in Greensboro, NC, is a non-profit organization founded in 1953. Alongside administering 15 collegiate member teams, the ACC and XOS Digital provide a platform for distribution of game highlights, game photos and press conference content. The highlights are from all ACC-controlled football and men’s basketball games, in addition to select conference women’s basketball content and Olympic Sports championships.
ACC partnered with ESPN to launch the ACC Network, the conference’s 24/7 network dedicated to live ACC sports and studio programming. With an emphasis on innovation, the ACCN utilizes state of the art production studios, cameras, and other breakthrough technologies to bring fans and partners unprecedented access to the biggest news, stories, games and events across the conference.

ClarkPowell has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with the Atlantic Coast Conference and have provided all their audiovisual, production and post-production needs.
Scott McBurney is the Associate Commissioner at ACC overseeing the Advanced Media team and is using MediaCentral UX | Production management system along with Telestream Vantage (for converting video files), Ecodigital Diva (part of his archive system), and Spectralogic (his archive tape library).
Scott, along with two other editors, receive, edit, export, and archive sports video from the different ACC schools. MediaCentral helps them manage their media throughout the production process. From the moment the media is ingested, MediaCentral UX | Production tracks the media through its entire lifecycle. Media is easily searchable and wrangled.
During Covid, the editors have primarily worked from home; able to use their office workstations remotely.
ClarkPowell helped design, install, and maintain the system for the Atlantic Coast Conference, both onsite and remotely. ClarkPowell has worked with Scott from his days of working on the old Accom Stratasphere editing systems and helped him transition to the Avid platform, and from there into shared storage, Interplay, and now into the realm of MediaCentral UX. Scott knows that Warren Baker, ClarkPowell’s post-production support, is only a phone call or e-mail away.

For ClarkPowell’s most recent project, we upgraded their large conference room from analog to a 100% digital system. This included the installation of a Crestron DigitalMedia Switcher System and 2 Sony 6000 Lumens Ceiling Projectors. To improve the sound capabilities of the room, we also installed a new Biamp Tesira Server-IO System DSP to handle the thirteen desktop microphones that are installed in the conference room table.
The table has connection points at two different locations to provide wired laptop connections and the system is equipped with a Barco Wireless Presentation System giving the ability to present from anywhere in the room from the participant’s own device (BYOD).
80” wall mounted monitors have also been placed in the room giving easier viewing of content. Sources for the room include laptop connection, PC, wireless presentation, DirectTV, and phone conferencing, all controlled from the wireless Crestron touch panel.
