Atrium Health, Charlotte, North Carolina
Atrium Health has opened a new, state-of-the-art 400,000 square-foot facility in midtown Charlotte that integrates a range of specialty services across disciplines into one location. The plaza building was purpose-built to give medical teams access to the 150-seat auditorium, providing the opportunity for professional conferences and events to advance cardiovascular education. ClarkPowell partnered with Atrium Health to install the cutting edge audiovisual solution offering enhanced opportunities for collaboration and continuing education.
The centerpiece of the Kenilworth Auditorium is a 219” 4K seamless Planar video wall. The LED video wall shines in this large educational environment due to its 7000:1 contrast ratio. The lectern accommodates a Shure microphone and a 22” monitor with tilt stand showing the selected computer input. A custom Extron Cable Cubby sits flush in the right top of the lectern and has power and an HDMI connection. For control, Atrium Health selected an HP Slice for conferencing controls and an Extron Touch panel for presentation use.
Due to the extreme height of the auditorium, the audio solution for the audience is 82 Shure Mic/Speaker discussion units-one unit mounted in between two seats, so every two seats shares one unit. These units have a microphone to be able to communicate with and a speaker to be able to hear others in the room.
Audience left has a wall mounted Logitech Rally camera capable of capturing the podium and most of the stage area for presentations and recording.
All cabling runs back to the control room in the rear of the auditorium. There is another Extron Touch Panel in the control room that mirrors the lectern unit so it can be operated from there as well as the touch panel on the podium. The control room also has monitor speakers, allowing the operators to monitor and mix the audio during live events. In addition, a 6 output press box was installed to enable both audio and video feeds directly to media outlets.
