Bring History to Life: AV Technology in a historic building
Town of Davidson, Town Hall and Community Center
The ClarkPowell team was asked to implement Modern AV in a historic school building. Embarking on the journey of designing a new AV system in a historic building requires a deep understanding of the delicate balance between preserving heritage and embracing modern technology.
Our team designed an AV system that met the cutting-edge technology and communication goals of the town’s staff whilst also preserving the historical integrity of the building. We navigated this with expertise and a commitment to seamlessly integrate technology in a historical space.

The conference rooms were outfitted with Sony displays, Biamp microphones and Vaddio cameras. The Barco Clickshare CX successfully assembled the technology into a functional wireless system. This user-friendly system provides ease of use and reliable functionality for a large variety of presentations and conferencing.
The historic auditorium was outfitted with a new 208 inch Da-Lite screen, Renkus-Heinz speakers, Sony projector and a Biamp audio system. The Board of Commissioners Chambers was designed with Sony displays, Vaddio cameras, Shure microphones, and Biamp DSP.
The Town of Davidson won a Gertrude S. Carraway Award of Merit for demonstrating a genuine commitment to historic preservation of the old Davidson School.
ClarkPowell is presently working on an AV upgrade to the previous town hall building, which has been recently renovated to incorporate new office spaces for the Davidson Police and Fire Departments.

The Town of Davidson renovated the historic 251 South Street school building for a new Town Hall and Community Center.
The project included preserving the historic character of the building while expanding office space for the town staff and approximately half of the building is available for community gathering space. The staff worked with ClarkPowell to install AudioVisual in the Board of Commissioners Chambers, 5 conference rooms, 4 community meeting rooms, and the historic auditorium. The project also included an information display behind the receptionist desk and in the staff break-room.
The ClarkPowell staff were creative on ways to improve upon the technology needs for the Town of Davidson, while also preserving the historic aspects of the building. The engineers, install team, and support technicians were wonderful to work with on this project.
