CASE STUDY
White Memorial Presbyterian Church, Raleigh, North Carolina
ClarkPowell partnered with White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina to design and install a new audio visual system.
The church underwent many infrastructural changes including the construction of a new building and renovations to the existing sanctuary building. They required a state of the art AV (audio visual) system in the newly constructed sanctuary and enhanced AV capabilities in multiple other spaces around the church campus. The alternative worship service “OnPoint” in the new building has quickly become a mainstay for this congregation.
The AV system needed to be flexible with a relatively simple interface in order for the church volunteers to be able to operate it easily. The system also needed to be robust with the capability to scale up as the church continues to expand. The new system was installed to incorporate multiple spaces on campus including the small dining room, youth space, community area and Pickard Hall. All of these spaces needed video capability from other sources and to include a PA (Public Address) system with wireless microphones for voice-lift.
In the small dining room, an inductive loop system was installed so that people with hearing aids are able to easily have access to the live audio in the room. During the installation, the church decided to add the capability to send the sanctuary sermons (including camera, sound and content) to reach all the spaces across campus. This was achieved by installing a Crestron NVX system and enables them to hold large scale events and funerals accommodating thousands of people. They wanted the ability to engage as many spaces as possible simultaneously across the network.
This AV system designed & installed by ClarkPowell has enabled this church to bring their congregation back to worship.
“What we didn't know was how vital this AV system would be as we entered Covid and now we are returning to worship and only able to operate in the primary sanctuary at below 30 percent of total occupancy. We needed to ensure that the in-person experience would be as safe as possible as we come back from 7 months of online streaming. All these additional spaces have become overflow worship areas with live AV feed from the sanctuary during social distancing that we wouldn’t have been able to have used otherwise.”
White Memorial Presbyterian Church has also expanded their reach from within the local community and across the country. In October 2020 they are now able to offer the live streaming of 2 services simultaneously as well as the regular busy schedule of programmed events.
