Da-Lite Commercial Projector Screens The latest innovation in projection screen design is here. The most popular electric screens now feature SightLine technology, a new cable drop option that gives the impression of a floating screen. Instead of the traditional black drop, screens with SightLine are suspended by slim, sleek cables that help preserve the architecture of the space. The screen virtually floats in the room and completely disappears when not in use. This makes SightLine ideal for today’s hybrid applications where office room environments are not solely dedicated to one single presentation, meeting room or video conferencing application. Simplified Screen Ordering and and Future-Proof Room Planning SightLine makes it easier than ever to order and install a screen. The cable drop extends any length up to 70”/180 cm, eliminating the need to calculate black drop ahead of time. Just order the screen with the SightLine feature, and you’re on your way. Once onsite, the drop distance is easily programmed to any height using the wall switch. After this, the screen will deploy to the same height each time. You can make changes as needed. And if future projector technology requires a different viewing height, SightLine easily accommodates a quick change to the position of the projection area. Read Clark, Don Norwood and David Powell. I know that they would all be overjoyed by what we all have accomplished. Happy Birthday to us! Furthering its mission to help community broadcasters of all sizes reach larger audiences on more viewing devices, Tightrope Media Systems has introduced the new Cablecast VIO OMNI all-in-one, channel-in-a-box system for multi-platform video distribution. Combining channel scheduling, playout, closed captioning, live streaming, and VOD publishing in one space-efficient server, VIO OMNI lets media organizations easily and efficiently bring their content everywhere their viewers want to see it – from cable television and the web to mobile and OTT apps. As live or file-based content is added or scheduled for the 24/7 cable channel, VIO OMNI automatically performs any required transcoding for online, mobile, and OTT delivery without any additional effort required. Categorized VOD collections publish identically across all of these platforms and can be dynamically updated with new content based on rich metadata, with zero extra work.
VIO OMNI’s brandable, turnkey web page templates let organizations easily present their live streams, VOD clips, and program schedule in a stylish layout. With the addition of Cablecast Cloud Solutions, VIO OMNI also effortlessly brings live and on-demand content to iOS and Android mobile devices; OTT platforms including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, and Google (Android) TV; and social media outlets including Facebook Live and YouTube Live. Unlike proprietary video hosting platforms, VIO OMNI lets customers retain full control of their content and won’t insert advertising or suggest third-party content. VOD chaptering lets viewers jump directly to topics of interest in long-form videos such as municipal meetings, and related documents such as meeting agendas can be embedded alongside the video player. While Cablecast VIO OMNI is deployed as an on-premises enterprise server, users can remotely manage all aspects of the system – from content scheduling to publishing and playout – through its intuitive, mobile-friendly web interface. VIO OMNI servers include SDI input and output for recording and playout alongside support for any number of IP-based input sources including NDI, RTP, RTMP, RTSP and HLS streams. Cross-platform simulcasting of live virtual meetings and events is also available with the optional Cablecast RTMP service. Closed captions of both live and file-based content can be automatically generated for all viewing platforms through the Cablecast VIO OMNI user interface. Intelligent speech-to-text conversion is performed using Cablecast’s cloud-based captioning engine with a usage-based billing model. Meanwhile, the tightly-integrated Cablecast CG software – included on all VIO OMNI servers – enables organizations to incorporate bulletin boards, crawls, and logo bugs into their channels. Network Device Interface (NDI) is a technology developed by NewTek that moves video and audio over a ethernet network. Plug your NDI device into a switch and make it available to other people on the network and voila your ethernet switch is an ethernet router. It is an inexpensive alternative to many SDI routers. If you don’t have a NDI device, you can use a NewTek Spark appliance that will turn your HDMI, 3G-SDI or 12G-SDI into a network happy NDI signal. ClarkPowell can help you with the process. We are a NewTek certified solutions expert (NCSE) which means we can help your transition to IP easier along with showing you tips and tricks of how to use NDI on your network. We have all been impacted by the recent issues with the supply chain and price inflation. ClarkPowell has had challenges trying to keep up with demand during these times.
As you probably know, our AV solutions typically require many parts and pieces that are often sourced from several different manufacturers. Supply chain issues have increased lead times for a lot of the equipment we recommend. Often, missing one item can keep us from being able to deliver the system we’ve designed for you. We continually look for new ways to speed up the process to meet our clients’ deadlines, like exchanging what we initially suggested to another reliable product or finding ways to provide certain functionality now and everything else when the rest of the gear is available. College students now have an expectation to continue to use aspects of remote learning that they have found helpful during the pandemic. Students find it valuable to have the flexible, hybrid models of online learning and to have access to recorded lectures. Colleges believe the hybrid or blended model, will remain an important part of the future, post-pandemic curriculum. The hybrid model is the “new normal” and when implemented effectively, it can successfully create more flexible, engaging learning environments. To be effective, however, colleges will need to provide online classes that offer the engagement of in-person classes. Educational facilities are now evaluating the best technologies and learning platforms to accommodate the needs of both on-campus and remote students. The wrong use of technology can, instead of making remote students feel included, have the opposite effect and so it is imperative that a great deal of thought goes into the design process. Contact a ClarkPowell higher education specialist to discuss the solution for building effective and inclusive hybrid learning environments where all students feel included and supported irrespective of their physical location. ⓔ [email protected]
✆ 800 532 1099 Hybrid working has been in the news recently as companies respond to employees’ increased interest in remote working. The mass “work from home” culture created by the pandemic has demonstrated that it’s possible to give employees the option of remote working without any loss to work productivity. Employees are now looking for flexibility, which means that many employers will need to adapt to this huge shift in working culture to compete in attracting and retaining staff. Many companies are now adopting a hybrid working model of having employees work in the office as well as remotely. The culture of meetings has changed greatly in the past 18 months and technology is essential in facilitating a successful hybrid work environment. Employers are researching the tools they need to enable effective collaboration for their employees, whether they are in the office or remote. Optimizing the use of technology across a hybrid workforce will mean enabling a seamless blend between remote and office work, and success will be determined by the ability to ensure an inclusive and connected workplace environment. Smart meeting rooms are quickly becoming a crucial technology investment for companies going to the hybrid work model. These intelligent spaces integrate hardware and software to create a productive meeting experience. The challenge with hybrid working is how to facilitate an environment where all of the people are able to share ideas and content. The blending of in-room and remote participants in a meeting, needs to be an easy process for all involved or it will hinder collaboration within the team and can create isolation or splinter the group.
Technology plays a crucial role. Utilizing the right tools, team leaders can effectively include all staff in this new way of hybrid working. To make this effective and sustainable, companies need the right technology and support to guide them through this massive change. There are a variety of new products available on the market that, when effectively linked together, create a seamless and inclusive working environment. Unfortunately, things are getting worse rather than better and, additionally, many industry experts are saying that they expect the delays and shortages to last until 2023.
Why? There are several reasons causing the delays. First, there are only a few factories in the world that produce the chips and they are virtually all in Asia. When the pandemic hit, these factories closed whole production lines for many months and, when they gradually reopened, they did so with a much-reduced workforce due to having to social distance. Second, the companies also forecasted inaccurately that Global demand would fall due to the pandemic but, as we all know, demand remained high because there was a huge demand for technology to enable workers to work remotely. In addition, several of the manufacturers have been tooling up to create the latest and greatest chips that are used in mobile devices and there has been less production of the older versions that many consumer electronics devices, Pro AV gear and automobiles rely on. So, as you can see, it has been a perfect storm for the industry… What can we do?
