Serial digital interface (SDI) has been around since the dawn of time and though it’s a great technology, there is new technology out there to get your video from point A to point B efficiently. Network Device Interface (NDI) is a technology developed by NewTek that moves video and audio over a ethernet network. Plug your NDI device into a switch and make it available to other people on the network and voila your ethernet switch is an ethernet router. It is an inexpensive alternative to many SDI routers. If you don’t have a NDI device, you can use a NewTek Spark appliance that will turn your HDMI, 3G-SDI or 12G-SDI into a network happy NDI signal. ClarkPowell can help you with the process. We are a NewTek certified solutions expert (NCSE) which means we can help your transition to IP easier along with showing you tips and tricks of how to use NDI on your network. If you have any questions, we would love to help you out. Contact Warren Baker, Video Workflow Specialist, at Warren@Clark-Powell.com

The Meeting/Classroom function controls laser output to keep brightness as high as possible for a period of actual usage time. Intelligent Settings with Ambiance uses a built-in light sensor to measure room brightness, automatically adjusting Bright View mode, color gain, and Reality Creation to suit your presentation environment. Automatic filter cleaning The VPL-FHZ85 helps minimize time spent on routine maintenance. The projector's automated filter cleaning system removes dust every 100 hours, ensuring unrestricted clean air intake for optimized cooling. Avoid dust build-up The sealed laser light source ensures that dust can't accumulate, helping to maintain image brightness and clarity over the projector's lifetime. The dedicated cooling duct for the projector's 3LCD panels is covered with an air filter to prevent dust from entering. Data cloning The new Data Cloning feature makes it easy to copy settings from one projector to another via USB flash memory drive. You'll appreciate the time saving when installing and setting up multiple projectors. We have all been impacted by the recent issues with the supply chain and price inflation. ClarkPowell has had challenges trying to keep up with demand during these times.
As you probably know, our AV solutions typically require many parts and pieces that are often sourced from several different manufacturers. Supply chain issues have increased lead times for a lot of the equipment we recommend. Often, missing one item can keep us from being able to deliver the system we’ve designed for you. We continually look for new ways to speed up the process to meet our clients’ deadlines, like exchanging what we initially suggested to another reliable product or finding ways to provide certain functionality now and everything else when the rest of the gear is available. So, to all our clients, thank you for your continued patience with the challenges we’re all facing. College students now have an expectation to continue to use aspects of remote learning that they have found helpful during the pandemic. Students find it valuable to have the flexible, hybrid models of online learning and to have access to recorded lectures. Colleges believe the hybrid or blended model, will remain an important part of the future, post-pandemic curriculum. The hybrid model is the “new normal” and when implemented effectively, it can successfully create more flexible, engaging learning environments. To be effective, however, colleges will need to provide online classes that offer the engagement of in-person classes. Educational facilities are now evaluating the best technologies and learning platforms to accommodate the needs of both on-campus and remote students. The wrong use of technology can, instead of making remote students feel included, have the opposite effect and so it is imperative that a great deal of thought goes into the design process. ✆ 800 532 1099 Hybrid working has been in the news recently as companies respond to employees’ increased interest in remote working. The mass “work from home” culture created by the pandemic has demonstrated that it’s possible to give employees the option of remote working without any loss to work productivity. Employees are now looking for flexibility, which means that many employers will need to adapt to this huge shift in working culture to compete in attracting and retaining staff. Many companies are now adopting a hybrid working model of having employees work in the office as well as remotely. The culture of meetings has changed greatly in the past 18 months and technology is essential in facilitating a successful hybrid work environment. Employers are researching the tools they need to enable effective collaboration for their employees, whether they are in the office or remote. Optimizing the use of technology across a hybrid workforce will mean enabling a seamless blend between remote and office work, and success will be determined by the ability to ensure an inclusive and connected workplace environment. Smart meeting rooms are quickly becoming a crucial technology investment for companies going to the hybrid work model. These intelligent spaces integrate hardware and software to create a productive meeting experience. The challenge with hybrid working is how to facilitate an environment where all of the people are able to share ideas and content. The blending of in-room and remote participants in a meeting, needs to be an easy process for all involved or it will hinder collaboration within the team and can create isolation or splinter the group.
Technology plays a crucial role. Utilizing the right tools, team leaders can effectively include all staff in this new way of hybrid working. To make this effective and sustainable, companies need the right technology and support to guide them through this massive change. There are a variety of new products available on the market that, when effectively linked together, create a seamless and inclusive working environment. Yet, with many choices out there, it can be hard to decide what technology will be the best investment for your company. Unfortunately, things are getting worse rather than better and, additionally, many industry experts are saying that they expect the delays and shortages to last until 2023.
Why? There are several reasons causing the delays. First, there are only a few factories in the world that produce the chips and they are virtually all in Asia. When the pandemic hit, these factories closed whole production lines for many months and, when they gradually reopened, they did so with a much-reduced workforce due to having to social distance. Second, the companies also forecasted inaccurately that Global demand would fall due to the pandemic but, as we all know, demand remained high because there was a huge demand for technology to enable workers to work remotely. In addition, several of the manufacturers have been tooling up to create the latest and greatest chips that are used in mobile devices and there has been less production of the older versions that many consumer electronics devices, Pro AV gear and automobiles rely on. So, as you can see, it has been a perfect storm for the industry… What can we do? With a Ethernet cable, I can take the output of a camera, plug it into a switch, and have the camera’s output become a video and audio source on my network. But this isn’t your typical streaming video. This is Network Device Interface video. It’s broadcast quality video, perfect for live production and recording. Let’s say you have four cameras. Or maybe a bunch of cameras. And let’s say you want all of the cameras visible on different computers throughout your facility. Safe. Secure. Password protected. Plug all of the cameras into your local network switch, with the blessing of your IT department, and depending on user permissions, each computer can monitor, record, and control (i.e. a PTZ camera) the video. The beauty, in this case, is there’s very little bandwidth needed on the switch. No expensive video routing, no expensive HDMI or video cable runs. Plug in the camera, and it’s available to everyone with the proper permissions. Recorded video can be sent to production or further encoding. Monitored video can be used for quality control. And the PTZ cameras can be controlled remotely- every pan, tilt, and zoom.
